A few weeks ago a story broke around the internet that Best Buy had a secret intranet site available only to employees that listed different prices then bestbuy.com that joe consumer has access to. Now under pressure from state investigators Best Buy has finally admitted that it does have a secret intranet site that only employees can access.
Why is this a big deal? Well here is how the scenario plays out.
You hop on bestbuy.com and find that laptop is on sale for $729.99. You are stoked and head down to your local Best Buy to make the purchase. When you get to the store the laptop is displayed as being on sale but the sale price on the sticker says $879.99. You find a douche bag with blue shirt and name tag and explain that the price on the bestbuy.com says $729.99. Said douche bag walks you over to a computer and appears to launch a browser and load bestbuy.com. Although it looks exactly like bestbuy.com it is a secret intranet site only available to employees. This intranet site shows the laptop as being on sale for $879.99 which matches the in store sticker.
At this point you either decide you must be crazy and end up getting screwed for $150 or you walk out feeling like a jackass and totally baffled.
