Evangelicals Once Again Prove They Are Idiots

by Mitch Martin on May 25, 2007

Brian Benson, an eighth-grade student who won first place in the Life Science/Biology category for his project “Creation Wins!!!,” says he disproved part of the theory of evolution. Using a rolled-up paper towel suspended between two glasses of water with Epsom Salts, the paper towel formed stalactites. He states that the theory that they take millions of years to develop is incorrect.

“Scientists say it takes millions of years to form stalactites,” Benson said. “However, in only a couple of hours, I have formed stalactites just by using paper towel and Epsom Salts.”

Question #1: Since when did the formation of stone fall under the category of Biology? Don’t we have something called Geology/Earth Science that covers that?

Question #2: Since when did legitamate scientists start using the age of stalactites to justify the age of the Earth?

Question #3: How do Epson Salts (magnesium sulfate) even compare to stalactites (calcium carbonate)?

Now I am sure a bunch of you softies will say, “The kid is only 14 give him a break.” I disagree that he deserves a break but fine. What about the bunch of charlatans that are his parents, teachers and the judges of this supposed science fair? What is their excuse for rewarding ignorance and false science?

The are always stories in the media claiming that movies, TV and video games are ruining kids and dumbing down America. I would argue that these Evangelical mountebanks teaching our kids that humans and dinosaurs coexisted are a far greater risk to our kids and the overall education level of the nation.
