So I have always wondered how one might be able to observe the process of natural selection in action. I was on a business trip to the great state of Illinois recently sitting at an intersection and it finally hit me. All you need to do to see natural selection in process is travel to a state without a motorcycle helmet law. Lucky for me Illinois happens to be one of those states.

It reminds me of a Seinfeld joke:
The only thing dumber than the helmet, is the helmet law,
the point of which is to protect a brain that is functioning so poorly
it’s not even trying to stop the cracking of the head that it’s in.
To clarify the “dumber than the helmet” statement you have to understand that the point Seinfeld was trying to make is that instead of quitting our head cracking activities we invented little plastic hats that allow us to continue said head cracking activities.
