I am sick and tired of the American Express commercial that features board sports extraordinaire Shaun White. Every 25 minutes I get to be reminded that there is some 21 year old kid who is rich enough to travel the world on a whim to ride his board. I don’t have any problem with Shaun. He can ride a piece of fiberglass and he figured out how to get paid for it. Good for him. My problem is with American Express. Who is their target market with this ad? Is this like advertising cigarettes to kids? Are they hoping that the teenagers who look up to Shaun White will run out and sign up for AmEx cards? My research (three people) seems to show that this commercial just pisses off anyone over the age of 21.
Sure I could change the channel but that isn’t the point. Make a commercial showing a 50 something executive buying a private goddamn jet with his AmEx card. At least then I could say “Shit I need to get my ass in gear so that I can buy a jet when I get older.â€
My lady friend said “Yeah well that’s how it is these days, they are all young. Look at Lebron he is only 22.â€
Very true that is a valid point. However I don’t have that thrown in my face. I don’t have to watch a commercial with Lebron rolling on dubs, buying bling and popping Kristal in the club. I hate the commerical so much I refuse to even embed the video on this site. You can click the link to youtube if you want to watch it.

Sorry, but Shaun’s not even 21 yet (will be in September). Does that make things even worse?
Touche…my birthday math was a little off. It’s a push really I thought he was 19 before I checked that Wikipedia page.
