Miller Gives Lime-and-Salt Beer A Shot at Boosting Sales

by Mitch Martin on June 13, 2007

Miller ChillThe Milwaukee brewer is launching Miller Chill, a 110-calorie beer flavored with lime and salt, throughout the U.S. this summer after a successful test run in Texas and several other states. Chill is Miller’s answer to the michelada, a drink popular at Mexican beach resorts usually consisting of beer, lime juice and ice in a salt-rimmed glass.

I am willing to give anything a try at least once but I have a feeling I will be sticking to my trusty boggs. Who knows though a six pack of this stuff might be pretty tasty on a hot afternoon when the pool is luked and the BBQ is hot.

Apparently they have been testing this stuff in the southwest over the last few months. If anyone has tried it leave a comment and let us know what you thought.

I haven´t had the chance to drink Miller’s version, but I have drank plenty of Cheladas (normal boggs with a squeeze of lime and salt on the rim) and Micheladas (Ice, Boggs, lime juice, salt, Tabasco, Worschestire). Micheladas are good in the early afternoon/morning, similar to a bloody mary. Cheladas are fairly delicous any time the sun is shining, and they help prevent scurvy, matey.

I prefer a normal Chelada although they are pretty good .. a bit on the soda tasting side but definitely grow on you as the afternoon/evening progresses. Will never replace a bogg but worth a try on a summer afternoon.

I work for a Boggs distributor (greatest job ever) and we got to sample it last week. It is certainly not as good as a Lite, but it is different than anything else you have ever tried. It is advertised as beer with a hint of salt and lime, but there is no salt taste to it at all. I think all the readers of this fantastic site will enjoy the Chill.
