This phenomenal site took five years to build and cost over $100 million - holy crap thats a big blade. If you look close, they had to cover the entire road in dirt, so that the machine did not completely crush it as it passed through. How long do you think those cars will be waiting for?

Holy shit that is one huge shovel. For some reason this quote made me laugh.
Although at the mine the treads are unnecessary, it was cheaper to make the machine self-propelled than to try and move it with conventional hauling equipment.
