Here in the great U.S. of A if a teacher even lays a finger on a kid then they are probably going to be looking at a lawsuit from the parents. In Japan a teacher throws a chair at the Volleyball team he is coaching and he wins the “Super Teacher” award from the local board of education.
The 52-year-old high-school teacher in Kyoto has been awarded the title every year since 2005 in spite of a history of aggression in the classroom because his strict teaching methods improved his students’ performance.
He was punished three times between 1997 and 2001 for physically attacking students, including throwing a chair at the volleyball team he was coaching, and was again accused of corporal punishment this year, Kyodo news agency said.
I am going to admit it. I like this guy’s style. Frankly we need a little bit of this here in the U.S. to keep kids in line and teach them a little respect for authority.
