This one is just ludicrous…
Seems that a refrigerator in a German hospital malfunctioned causing a slight problem. The fridge was holding the top of a man’s skull, as doctors were operating on his brain. Because the temperature of the fridge was not cold enough, the portion of the man’s head deteriorated during the operation, and was not able to be reattached. Surgeons had to build him a new portion of his head out of PLASTIC.
Ridiculous, right? It gets worse. The man sued the hospital for 20,000 Euros, but not because of the negligence of the hospital regarding his former head, but rather because his new plastic head was giving him headaches. A German court found that the man’s discomfort was only worth 3000 Euros (a little over $4000), since it was mostly due to his operation, not the new plastic skull he received. In fact the court concluded that the “new skull roof was better than the original.” Are you fucking kidding me?
How many millions would a screw-up like this be worth in the U.S.? A plastic head would be like winning the Megamillions!
