Leroy Carr, 46, called Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on August 7 to report that two backpacks he had stashed near the border containing 31 kilograms of cocaine were missing.
Department of Justice spokeswoman Emily Langlie said Carr asked the agents to put out a press release saying the drugs had been seized so that the people he worked for would not think he stole the cocaine.
“He indicated that he had been attempting to take the narcotics into Canada but had stashed them overnight,” Langlie said.
What was this guy thinking? I understand that after losing 31 kilos he was probably afraid for his life and figured if the authorities reported the drugs seized he would be off the hook. However why would you leave something, that you could possible be killed over, in the woods without a fool proof way of finding it again? Buy a $300 Garmin handheld GPS and mark a fucking waypoint. The only logical explanation is that the guy was high at the time he “hid” the backpacks and that is why he couldn’t find them again.
If I have heard it once I have heard it a thousand times. You aren’t going to be successful at the game if you use your own product.
