As everyone knows Ahmadinejad, the leader of Iran, spoke at Columbia University today. Regardless of your politics or how you feel about this guy he did have what I think is just an outstanding quote.
The remark that clearly struck a chord with the audience above any other regarded his feelings on homosexuality. Ahmadinejad said during the question-and-answer portion: “In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like you do in your country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you that we have it.”
Really? Not a single one? I did a little Googling on my own and depending on which website you read the population of Iran is somewhere between 65 million and 71 million. The fact that he described homosexuality as a “phenomenon” is pretty priceless by itself but then you claim that there isn’t even one is a group of 60 million plus people. The man did claim that the Holocaust never happened so I am not surprised that he is delusional enough to believe that not a single homosexual exists in Iran. It would be pretty funny to see one Iranian stand up and say “Uh, hello! Over here!” but I have a feeling that person would mysteriously disappear pretty quickly.
