This is flat out amazing. Doctors fed this 24 year old kid 3 shots of Vodka and hour for three straight days and it saved his life. Can you imagine any scenario in life where you could say, “Yeah I have had 216 shots of Vodka in the last three days and it saved my life.” Fuck, I am not even sure you could drink 3 shots an hour for 1 day and live let alone for 3 straight days.
A standard shot is 1.5 fluid ounces so after all the conversions 216 shots comes out to a little more than 2.5 gallons (324 fluid ounces) of Vodka. I posted a story in May about a Russian who died in a Vodka drinking contest after drinking just over 50 ounces. A RUSSIAN died after 50 ounces. Russians start drinking Vodka before they have teeth to chew food.
Respect to the quick thinking doctors that came up with this strategy to save the kid’s life.
The 24-year-old Italian, who was not further identified, was diagnosed as having ingested a large quantity of ethylene glycol, a common ingredient in antifreeze that can cause renal failure.
Pure alcohol is often given in treating such cases because it can inhibit the toxic effects of ethylene glycol.
“We quickly used all the available vials of 100 percent alcohol and decided the next best way to get alcohol into the man’s system was by feeding him spirits through a nasogastric tube,” Gelperowicz said in a statement.
“The patient was drip-fed about three standard drinks an hour for three days in the intensive care unit,” he said.

LL Cool J was a death row prisoner who drank copier toner (which apparently also contains ethylene gycol) to attempt suicide in a jail cell.
Dr. House was doing shots of tequila with him to get it out of his system.
Good thing they get House in Italy.
Well the kid was Italian but it actually happened in Australia.
I don’t want to pick the show apart but 1) how does an inmate get copier toner and 2) it doesn’t sound like they accurately portrayed how much alcohol it takes to counter act the ethylene gycol.
