A dance craze has hit the nation. It’s the Macarena of the decade. It’s Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat” dance. The song first reached internet phenomenon status when video parodies of the song using Bambi and Barney became must see YouTube videos. This is just the tip of the iceberg… I’ve seen versions with Dora the Explorer, Spongebob, South Park, etc. As the “Crank That” song caught on, so did the dance. And everyone started doing the dance… Jerry Rice , white people, the list goes on…
However, a little more research into the “Crank Dat” dance uncovers an interesting sexual innuendo. If you’ve only heard edited version of the song, you know the dance ends with a “Superman” pose – arms outstretched in front of you, leaning forward. Of course, on the unedited version of the song, it’s “Superman dat hoe!” A quick visit to Urban Dictionary and you’ll find this definition:
“When you ejaculate on a girls back then put a blanket on her so when she stands up the blanket sticks therefore making her look like she has a cape.”
Now, I am all for the funny sexual innuendos (angry pirate, donkey punch, etc.), but this is almost too much. Do people really know what their doing when they go into the “Superman” pose? What about every kid that now knows this dance?
Not to mention the song sucks. I can’t wait for the next big song/dance craze, the “Bucking Bronco” coming this Winter from Three 6 Mafia or the Backstreet Boys.
