The filmmaker placed a penis behind actor John C. Reilly’s head in an orgy scene in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and watched as audience members stormed out of a test screening in disgust.
He says, “The original shot was way longer, where the penis is in close-up, and then one night we showed it to a test audience and 22 people walked out. I think we went too far with too much penis. “We went with different angles to make sure there weren’t too much testicles being shown… America fears the penis and that’s something I’m going to help them get over.
“I’m gonna get a penis in every movie I do from now on. When this writers strike ends, that is my dream. It really makes me laugh in this day and age, with how psychotic our world is, that anyone is troubled by seeing any part of the human body; that is amusing to me.”
Yes, I will now be going to see Dewey Cox. Maybe invite my parents and we can make it a family outing on Christmas Day. I mean if you are going to see a dick on the big screen might as well bring everyone along and share the experience. I want to know the breakdown of the 22 people that “stormed” out. Was it women, men, a mix? Let’s be honest everyone above the age of 15 either has a dick or has seen one on the internet so what is the big deal? Is it the veins?

[…] Last night fellow TastyBoozers Mr. Wonka and Bill Brasky, took in a viewing of “Walk Hard” with me. Although it seems like every movie out or coming out has something to do with “the guys who brought you ‘Knocked Up’ and ‘The 40-Year Old Virgin,’” our friend Judd Apatow can still bring the funny. John C. Reilly does a great job throughout the movie chronicling the life of Dewey Cox and I was surprised at the quality of the original music. Also, impressive was Apatow’s consciousness to not over use the obvious “cox” jokes, but knew the right time to insert them (pun intended). Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) again proves her ability to be hot. The rest of the movie is filled with cameos, so keep an eye out for these and your own personal “Crying Game” after one scene.
