It doesn’t make any sense but I have a certain amount of respect for these guys that show up to their court hearing piss ass drunk. On one level it is sad and it probably means these guys need some serious help with their alcohol problem but on another level it shows a level of “I don’t give a fuck” that I just have to respect.
Paul J. Layfulde, 51, showed up to his arraignment on DUI and property damage charges with a pretty healthy buzz going. Based on his actions in the court room the judge asked a court official to adminster a Breathalyzer test on Mr. Layfulde. The Breathalyzer revealed that Mr. Layfulde was rolling with a 0.40 BAC or just about 5 times the legal limit. Mr. Layfulde must have figured he could handle court on a buzz due to the amount of court room experience he has stemming from his four previous DUI convictions.
How is it possible that someone can have four DUI conviction and still end up in court on a fifth charge? Can’t we implement some kind of “Go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200″ program to prevent this? Literal jail isn’t the answer. Putting someone in a concrete box doesn’t solve anything but there has got to be something that can be done. Maybe just put the bastards under house arrest so that they can’t leave house and cruise the block.

This literally happened to me yesterday. A defendant coming in for a DUI showed up and blew a .25
Me too! Guy gets brought in for failure to go to drug/alcohol treatment and he was drunk. I hate my job though and am always a little jealous.
