As I am sure everyone has heard by now Lego celebrated their 50th birthday today. LEGOs are definitely in my top 4 favorite toys growing up. In fact there are still two large tool boxes filled with LEGOs in a storage closet at my parent’s house. They kicked me out a few years ago and turned my bedroom into a guest room but the LEGOs have managed to survive in their hiding place. I can’t really say that I had one specific favorite Lego set but I do remember the one set that I wanted the most and never got. Set #8865-1 also known as the Auto Chassis. This thing had a V4 engine, three speed transmission, four wheel independent suspension and pop-up headlights. The Auto Chassis made it on two consecutive birthday present lists and the Christmas list in between. I remember going to visit my cousin’s house on a vacation and the bastards had it. I was so goddamn jealous that the Auto Chassis is the only thing I remember from the trip.
Checking out the photos now it doesn’t look nearly as cool as I remember it being but for two years of my life this thing was the cat’s ass of toys.
