As men struggle to find the right Valentine’s Day gift for their loved ones - something that will truly show how much you love them without having to take out a short-term loan to pay for it - there is now something to look forward to as reciprocation for Valentine’s Day. That’s right, March 14th, Steak and BJ Day!
Urban Dictionary has a nice homage to the inventor Tom Birdsey and a good explanation of the day:
Steak and BJ Day was invented as a response to Valentine’s Day, a day in which men get the ‘privilege’ of showing their affection for their significant other by spending ludicrous amounts of time, money, and effort in showering them in gifts, dinners, shows, and various other things to show them just how special they are to us.
There seems to be a little argument about which date is official, March 14 or March 20, the closest thing to the official Steak and BJ Day web site sticks to the March 14 date. You know what I say, celebrate both!
There are two online petitions to Congress, here and here, both of which state official Steak and BJ Day as March 20. I think with Obama in the White House, anything is possible! I also heard McCain hates BJs, true story!

As I said in the bowling alley, this shouldn’t have to be mutually exclusive from V-Day! I say make it on February 15th, that way she gets the whole evening of the 14th to be pampered, then promptly at midnight, I get a steak, and a BJ while I’m eating the steak!
