If you are looking to get a job in the medical marijuana industry or just want to grow a little dope at home then Oaksterdam U is the place for you. For $200, plus a couple of textbooks and one weekend of your time you can be a graduate of Oaksterdam. Topics covered include cultivating cannabis, cooking with cannabis, which strains provide relief for specific ailments and the laws that dictate how the Feds feel about growing marijuana. So far 60 students have completed the class and it is currently sold out through May.
I wonder how much time they spend covering the trip to the pound-me-in-the-ass-penitentary you are going to take if you are busted with a botanical fucking weed forest in your home.
“My basic idea is to try to professionalize the industry and have it taken seriously as a real industry, just like beer and distilling hard alcohol,” said Richard Lee, 45, an activist and pot-dispensary owner who founded the school in a downtown storefront last fall.
In the lab, Lee measured plant food into a plastic garbage can and explained how, with common sense, upgraded electrical outlets, a fan and an air filter, students can grow pot at home for fun, health, public service — or profit.
Upgraded electrical outlets and an air filter? If that doesn’t sound like a professional industry I don’t know what the fuck does. That is Richard Lee founder of Oaksterdam U and HHIC (head hippie in charge) there in the upper right.
