“I hit a bump and that’s about the time I realized moving the grenade wasn’t the brightest thing to do,”
From a Florida Dad whose 8 year old son found a World War II era hand grenade while searching for buried treasure with a metal detector in a field near their apartment.
Dad got home just in time to find the boys about to give the grenade a bath in a bucket of water. He took the grenade and starting driving away from the apartment complex while dangling the grenade out the window of his SUV. After hitting a bump Dad had second thoughts about his actions. An Air Force Explosive unit from a nearby base took the grenade and destroyed it.
