Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe signed into law a measure that closes a loophole that would allow “anyone who was not pregnant to marry at any age with permission.” By “loophole” I mean their own dumbass mistake. The brain trust that is the Arkansas state legislators tried to pass a bill last year that would make the minimum age for marriage in the state 18. Reasonable. Instead somebody missed a mundane detail (think of the decimal point in Office Space) and the bill was passed with an extra “not” that allowed anyone at any age to get married with their parents permission.
The measure signed into law on the do-over repealed the dicked up version and reinstated the minimum age for boys at 17 and the minimum age for girls 16.
Maybe next time when you take a third crack at this hire a proofreader? I know it is crazy idea but it might save you the embarrassment of looking like complete idiots.
