I had to write a post about this bus accident because this bridge is right around the corner from my house. I spent about three years commuting under this bridge and in that time I saw at least four box trucks that challenged the old bridge and lost.
This time around the driver of the 11 foot 9 inch bus tried to take on the 9 foot bridge with a bus load of softball players. Luckily no one was seriously hurt in the accident. You can see in the photos and I can say from first hand experience that it doesn’t matter which way you approach that bridge there are at least 3 large signs that warn of the low 9 foot clearance. The article doesn’t give any details on how the soon to be fired bus driver pulled this act of genius off but there are some rumors that he was simply following the directions his GPS unit gave him.
