Breaking Booze: France Considering Happy Hour Ban

by J Diggles on May 21, 2008

France is considering a ban on happy hours in bars and on the sale of bottles of vodka and other strong liquor in nightclubs as part of efforts to curb binge drinking among young people.

Apparently a recent study said that 1 in 4 seventeen year olds reported drinking more than 3 times in the last year, and 1 in 10 reported being drunk 10 times. Hey, guess why?? Oh ya, it is legal for SIXTEEN year-olds to by alcohol. Hmmm, if you want to stop drinking among young people, maybe you should stop selling them alcohol. No reason to punish everyone. Wow, that was a brain buster….

Side note: If those statistics are considered a “drinking problem”, then I better not move to France.

Is that a picture of one of the the teens that has a drinking problem?

If so I might be moving to France.
