Beer Review Friday - Red Stripe - Hooray Beer!

I’ve been a huge fan of the imported beers this summer. I was pretty sure that Pacifico was officially my favorite summer time beer but I picked up a half rack of Red Stripe last weekend and I think it has taken the title.

Red Stripe is a Jamaican lager style beer that is light in color, without much head when poored, and only a very slight hoppy flavor. I’ve had Red Stripe before when I’ve been out to the bars and I wasn’t super impressed. I mean it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything special. However I think Red Stripe really shines when you are sweating your balls off. When I crack one of these open after getting a good sweat going it’s tastes like the greatest thing I’ve ever poored down my gullet. It’s smooth, refreshing and it’s has a great light taste. If you plan on firing up your grill this weekend for a little afternoon BBQ make sure you grab at least a six pack of Red Stripe. We all now it’s man law that you must have a beer in hand when cooking with fire so why not make it the most refreshing beer I have come across this summer.
