And Mondays…and sometimes Thursdays. And all the rest of the days, because I can just stare at my fantasy team and waiver wire waiting in anticipation. Redskins v Giants already kicked things off last night with a pretty ugly defensive match-up. And by defense I mean shitty offense. So I hope you didn’t start anybody on either team, except maybe Plaxico Burress, who slightly exceeded expectations. Though, I would be a happy owner of Brandon Jacobs right now. He may not of scored, but given the number of times he bowled people over, I suspect that won’t be a problem down the line.
Sits and Starts: Week 1
Sit RB Ryan Grant: You probably drafted him high, very high, because of his surprising season last year. What you forgot though, is that Brett Favre is gone. Defenses do not yet have to respect the arm of Aaron Rogers, no matter how good his pre-season was. So yes, that means Green Bay will probably run a lot, but it also means teams will be keying in on the run. Ryan Grant will be good once the Packers offense settles in. But not in week 1. And definitely not against Minnesota, the highest drafted defense in the league. Diggles Line: 73 yards rushing, 0 touchdowns, 12 yards receiving.
Start QB Jay Cutler: 3 of his last 4 games in 2007 were gems. He has his health problems fixed. He is playing Oakland. Nuff said. In deeper leagues start him over QBs drafted almost certainly above him, Marc Bulger and Derek Anderson. Diggles Line: 263 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions.
Start K Shayne Graham: Ya, I know, he is a kicker. But they play too. And they can get you big points you aren’t expecting. Most importantly, however, he is on a team that can move the ball and playing a defense that can stop you up near the end zone. What does that mean? Lots of field goal attempts. Diggles Line: 2 extra points, 3 field goals (40, 30, 30).
Start TE Vernon Davis: He sucked last year. He sucked a lot. Alex Smith sucked even more. I drafted him as a sleeper, and he slept alllll season. Yes I am still bitter, but he will be good this year. Vernon has the skills and he is in a pass happy system with a quarterback who can supposedly throw. Plus, this week Arizona is going to score and score quickly, putting the ball back in the hands of the 49ers offense more than enough. Diggles Line: 7 catches, 62 yards, 1 touchdown.
Sit RB Larry Johnson: He gets worse and worse every year. Whoever was drafting 12th in your league and was forced to take him because their only other options were Injuree McGahee or Fred Taylor Backup Jones-Drew knew this. He didn’t want to draft him. It was like me drafting Lee Evans in the 7th round. I knew he was going have a bad season, but I needed a receiver and Shooter Harrison or Rowdy Roddy White were all that was left. Diggles Line: 54 yards rushing, 0 touchdowns, 14 yards receiving.

This almost makes me wish I had a fantasy team.
