Diggles and I have come to an agreement regarding our hometown team, the Seattle Seahawks. They suck. Sure, the Hawks have had one of those seasons, where whatever can go wrong, will go wrong: Wide receiver injuries up the ying-yang, terrible special teams play, a defense that gets out-played week-after-week, and quarterback problems. In the past couple of years, these issues have been present, but the NFC West has been so awful, the Hawks could still coast into the playoffs and get a home game because they would win their division.
This year, it’s a different story. Finally Arizona and San Francisco are starting to play up to their potential, and that means the Hawks are in big trouble and will likely miss the playoffs. This is even more hurtful, as Mike Holmgren has already announced his retirement at the end of the season. Ugh.
Now that I’ve come to the realization of the Hawks’ season, I can focus all my energy on fantasy football. And on to the waiver wire scramble for week 6:
Cut Your Losses with Chad Johnson, WR, Cincy - It’s going to take some balls to dump Johnson (216 yards, 1 TD), but it needs to happen. You can hold onto him hoping for an offensive outburst in the coming weeks, but you’ll probably be better off without him (see Larry Johnson from last year). Cincy’s offense is in turmoil with QB problems and there are other talented weapons on offense. Shop him around for a replacement WR or maybe a top-tier tight-end.
Trade Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans - Bush is at his highest value right now (even Kim Kardashian knows this!), people are going to think you’re crazy for shopping him around, but you know what you’re doing. First, Deuce McAllister is back, taking away snaps from Bush. Second, everyone knows that Bush is dangerous on kick returns, meaning he’s not going to get many any more. Leverage Bush to make your team better all around.
Don’t bother with Patrick Cobbs, RB, Miami - The third string running back exploded for 138 yards receiving and 2 TDs this week. Notice that those are receiving yards and that Cobbs is a running-back, third string running-back at that. There are too many weapons on Miami, so don’t expect these numbers to appear on Cobbs’ stat line again with any sort of frequency. Going into this week’s game, Cobbs had 19 total yards…the entire season, see what I mean.
Pick-up Matt Jones, WR, Jacksonville - Matt Jones, who? Mr. JONES!… Just yesterday Jones got accepted in a drug treatment program, meaning he’ll be focused on two things for the remainder of the season: 1) Not doing drugs, and 2) Football! That means good things on the fantasy side. He was a favorite target on the Jags last year, and led the team with 7 catches for 69 yards this week. Expect those stats to stay consistant or improve with TDs in the coming weeks.

I’m not trading Reggie Bush unless I get top-flight WR or QB fantasy football talent for him. I don’t trust Deuce McAllister just yet.
