Canadian Club has released 2000 bottles of a special 30 year old whisky to celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary. We were lucky enough to receive one of these special bottles of whisky to run through the Tasty Booze testing facility.
“ Its 30 year aging process results in a luscious oak character enhanced by delicate hints of dried fruit and subtle spice. The rich antique color and velvety texture complement its warm lingering finish and its unsurpassed natural smoothness.”
This whisky is incredibly smooth. It’s probably the smoothest whisky I’ve ever drank. When I first poured the whisky it had a sweet almost caramel like smell. With a sip you would get the caramel/oak/spice flavor and then it would just slide down your throat. I’m a tequila man myself and while I’m not going to give up my 100% blue agave I’ve got to admit that this Canadian Club makes me realize I’m going to have to bring whisky back into my life. Diggles admitted he wasn’t much of a “whisky guy” just as we were getting ready to taste and he had a bottle of water handy as a chaser. The Canadian Club was so smooth he managed to drink his entire pour without reaching for the bottle of water.
If you’ve got a friend or loved one that loves whisky and you’re racking your brain looking for a unique holiday gift this year the Canadian Club 30 Year Whisky would make an excellent choice. Before you run down to your local bottle shop let me just say that 30 years in an oak barrel doesn’t come cheap. Depending on where you live this limited edition Canadian Club will run somewhere between $175 and $200. I’m not sure how long this bottle will last with this booze-hound group but I’m seriously considering picking up another bottle as an early Christmas present to myself.
