If you’re like me, your fantasy football mind goes into idle from about Tuesday morning (shortly after writing this) until sometime on Friday or Saturday. Obviously I’m focused on other things (i.e. not getting fired). When Friday comes around, the day is usually spent looking for ways to kill time and just get through to the weekend, which means - fantasy football. I usually set my rosters, do a little research and check out injuries for sitting/starting people, noting if there is someone still “Questionable” who I need to either wake up early on Sunday morning or just scrap all together.
Hopefully you weren’t one of the sorry sacks of shit who forgot that the NFL is attempting to rip everyone off by throwing in some loosy Thursday night match-ups (no, it’s not Thanksgiving yet!), so all those dickheads who bought the NFL Network can feel good about themselves. Luckily I don’t have anyone on the Browns or Broncos (fuck you Jay Cutler!), so I didn’t get screwed. Heads up to anyone who has fantasy players on the Jets or Patroits, they square off Thursday night…A game I might actually consider watching.
On to the waiver wire scramble for week 10:
Drop (literally) Koren Robinson, WR, Seattle - When Robinson got re-signed by the Seahawks this year, I got WAY too excited. I thought it was going to be like the good ol’ days - celebrating with the sprinkler dance and drunk-driving home… Unfortunately, Robinson is still having trouble catching the ball, even when Seneca Wallace is able to throw it to him. He had an awesome 90-yard TD against Philly two weeks back, but that was essentially Seattle’s offense for the day.
Pick-up BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB, New England - The hardest part about picking up Green-Ellis is his name, it’s like two names combined into one… Is his last name Jarvus? If you just type in Green is he going to show up? Ugh! New England is struggling with their healthy running backs and have a short week to prepare for the Jets. The carries might be shared a little more this week, but if BenJarvus can keep the production up, he’ll continue to see snaps.
Pick-up Mark Bradley, WR, Kansas City - Bradley has quickly climbed the depth chart in Kansas City, becoming the No. 2 wide receiver and a quality position receiver. Against San Diego, Bradley notched 9 catches, 81 yards and 1 TD. A lot of the concern about KC is their QB situation, now it looks like Tyler Thigpen is getting more comfortable, expect KC’s offense to be somewhat legitimate. I’m not saying KC is going to go on a winning streak, but when they get behind (like against New Orleans this week), Bradley will get more looks.
Trade Leon Washington, RB, New York Jets - It’s time to start preparing for the stretch run in fantasy football, which means looking at your over-productive players from the past four weeks and using them to upgrade at another position or solidify your bench. Washington fits into that roll, he splits time with Jones, but also gets a good deal of stats from receiving and return yards…all things to leverage as trade bait. Don’t expect the Jets to continue these high scoring affairs, meaning less opps for Washington to see the end zone.
