Friday Beer Review - Widmer Brrr

No, ‘Brrr’ isn’t slang for beer son. Brrr happens to be Widmer Brothers Brewing first winter seasonal beer released in four years. Widmer Brrr is a red ale that pours nice and clear with a deep reddish copper color and a nice white head.

Initially the beer gives off fruity, citrus notes with hints of hops and roasted malt. Widmer Brrr has strong hoppy flavor right off the bat then goes down easy with little to no after taste.

There are a couple of key points that will probably end up making Widmer Brrr my new go to winter beer. First it’s packing 7.2% ABV which means a single six pack will be enough to put most people on their ass. In these economic times if you’re going to part with $7.99 for a six pack it’s nice to know you are getting some bang for your buck. Second, Widmer Brrr is surprising light. I generally avoid winter beers because they are heavy and I feel like I just ate a Thanksgiving meal after only three. With Widmer Brrr you can easily put down a six pack and still have room to top it all off with some late night Bud Lights.

Looking around for reviews on Brrr and came across yours. My husband decided to finally give this one a try and he just wasn’t into it. He said this wasn’t his type of brew.

I like seeing other’s takes on it. Happy you liked it.
here is a link to his review on it.
