Nine Bad Tech Habits To Quit In The New Year

by Mitch Martin on January 21, 2009

slideshow Today MSNBC posted their list of "Eight bad tech habits to quit in the new year". It’s a decent list but I think they forgot one important tech habit that definitely needs to go in 2009. So I’ve recreated their list here along with adding my own addition down at the nine spot. Frankly, I think my addition should be at the one spot there is no reason to be picky.

1. iContact in place of eye contact

2. Facebook indiscretion

3. Texting and driving

4. Posting pointless online comments

5. Forwarding scary warnings without doing your research

6. Can you research that for me?

7. Loud talking on cell phones

8. The Rickroll has got to go

9. Slideshow lists on news websites.

If you haven’t clicked any of the 9 links to MSNBC’s list can you guess what it is? Yep that’s right, it’s a goddamn slideshow. Why the fuck does every news website from MSNBC to CNN insist on making every list a fucking slideshow? Hey news flash guys, we’ve all used PowerPoint since like the 8th grade this whole slideshow thing isn’t some mind blowing advancement we’ve never seen before. Sure in this day and age just about everyone has high speed internet but it’s just flat out annoying to have to reload the page every time I want to see the next item in the list. There is a reason every blog in the blogosphere keeps their lists as lists, because people like it.

So MSNBC, I’ll work on eradicating numbers 1 through 8 but why don’ you pull your head out of your ass and start working on number 9.

Mr. Wonka should take notice to number 4 (trust me, this is not pointless)
