There’s not much information about the Tap Room Brewing Company, their web site is fairly plain, just listing their three brews (Amber, Lager, Light) and where you can buy their product. Looks like they might have a couple other styles, include a Pale Ale that won some awards last year, but the effort in the web site is pretty lacking.
I’m not really sure what drew me to the Tap Room Amber Ale, obviously it’s my favorite style of beer, so I figured it would just be another variation of an amber. The golden color of the beer seems lighter than most ambers that I’ve tried, and the taste masks the color, being on the lighter side as well. It actually reminds me lot the Sam Adams Boston Lager (or even the Sam Adams Light).
You would think the Tap Room would be more of a microbrew, with distinctive tastes even in the most basic of beer genres. If you’re looking to try a new and different amber, I wouldn’t suggest the Tap Room 21 Amber Ale.

The Tap Room 21 Pale Ale is a pleasantly hoppy beer. It’s tasty with good balance, and at 5.99 a six, a real strong entry into the overpriced 9.99+ Pale Ale category. It’s always pleasing and a great value Pale Ale. Better than some, worse than others, but a strong value.
In the summer I drink lagers- Yingling and Miller (you should revisit Miller High Life) and I like a Blue Moon on a hot day out on the porch with a thin slice of orange but in the fall I turn to the ales and of course- Guiness. I’m tired (of paying $8-$9 buck a six pack) and old (so my taste buds are a little hashed out) so I picked up a dozen of Moe’s Pale Ales ’cause I like the price. I see that it’s brewed out of Rochester, NY (my hometown- Instant Karma). I assume it’s contracted to Genessee. It’s good beer. Nice pour, good color, better head than dead, good taste, no aftertaste. What else are you looking for? Sometimes I think you young dudes would not know a good beer if it walked up and kicked you in the ass. Keep your Sierra Nevada.
