I’m a sucker for an IPA and why not go for the organic one? I don’t usually get into the whole organic thing, I figure it’s better to eat locally than pay extra for some organic bullshit that is shipped in from Argentina. Anyway Roots was the first all organic certified brewery in Oregon and from the one beer I’ve tried I’ve got to say they are turning out some pretty good product.
The Woody IPA pours with a cloudy bronze/amber color and thick off white cream colored head. The first whiff gives off hints of citrus and pine. The Woody IPA has a medium mouth feel and a great hop flavor. It’s also got a whole lot of bitterness on the way down. Not bitterness in a bad way just a whole lot of good IPA bitterness. Roots describes the Woody IPA as:
Not your classic N.W. I.P.A., it’s BETTER! Dry hopped with an abundance of whole magnum hops to get your attention- and hold it.
My local Top Foods only had the Woody IPA in 22 oz bottles which isn’t bad but at $4.99 a pop that could be an expensive buzz. If I could find this stuff at a decent price in a 6-pack, or even better a half rack, I would definitely add it into my regular rotation. This is the perfect beer for sipping on the back deck while waiting for something to finish cooking on the grill.
