Originally the study was testing people’s attentiveness when they were drinking compared to when they were not. Big surprise there, you don’t pay as much attention when you’re drunk. I could have easily told you this based on my field research of trying to talk to women at bars.
Anyways, the study also found that the British, especially the women, are drinking more than ever - 15 percent now claim to binge drink once a week, compared to the reported 7 percent back in the ’90s. For all you guys currently booking tickets to London, hold your horses. The numbers might be slightly skewed, as the demographic of women with the biggest jump is the over 65 crowd, which doubled their alcohol consumption. Pretty impressive. My guess is that this has something to do with Susan Boyle.
