The NBA Playoffs Finally Get Interesting

by J Diggles on May 12, 2009

3 years after they began, the NBA playoffs are beginning to show some promise.  Ya, the Bulls-Celtics series was awesome, but it is hard to get that into it when you know either team would eventually get rocked by The LeBrons.

kennysmithIn the West it isn’t as clear cut as we all thought.  The Lakers will beat a Yao-less, McGrady-less Houston, but are currently getting all they can handle (note to Houston brass, keep this team together).  The Nuggets though, look surprisingly strong and built for the playoffs.  They are crushing teams.  And the word from my favorite TNT analyst, Kenny “The Jet” Smith, is that no team can put the hammer down faster when they have the lead.  Would you rather have Melo-Billups or Kobe-Gasol?  That’s much more of a legit question than you might have thought a month ago.  Not to mention, JR Smith can light it up, Nene can fill it up and Birdman is just awesome.  Could be a series.

In the East, yes The Lebrons closed it out last night and look nearly unstoppable.  And if they face the Celtics, I think they breeze through one more series.  But one thing they haven’t done yet in this playoffs is face a big-man like the Magic’s Dwight Howard.  Not to mention they lost to Orlando twice in the regular season.

Expect another update in 2012 when we reach the final round of the playoffs.
