If you were watching football at all this weekend, you probably saw one of the many commercials for the new Bud Light Golden Wheat. From what I’ve gathered, the beer is essentially a light version of the hefeweizen and should be coming to market in early October. Obviously with the huge advertising spend during football games, Anheuser-Busch has to be ready to let it drop soon.
Just one year ago, they introduced Bud Light Lime. Honestly, it took me about a year to warm up to that beer, it wasn’t until mid-summer when I enjoyed one at a friend’s house and was pleasantly surprised. I’m feeling I might have the same reaction to the Golden Wheat, definitely feels more like a summer beer that’s being introduced in the Fall. What I really want to know is, because this is a “wheat” beer, are you expecting the beer to be served with a lemon? Everyone has different opinions about fruit in beer…
Maybe the Bud Light/Anheuser-Busch people can reach out and help a brother out with a sample, or at least from cool free swag. Look for Bud Light Golden Wheat to appear on our Friday Beer Review post sometime in the near future.
