Yes, the “55″ refers to the number of calories in the beer but it might as well refer to the number you need to drink to get drunk. They’ve managed to beat out MGD 64 by a whopping 9 calories but they’ve cut the alcohol by volume to 2.4%. At 2.4% you might was well pick up a fucking sixer of O’Douls or Sharp’s. For reference, in case you aren’t up on the ABV of other Anheuser-Busch products, Budweiser is 5.0% and Bud Light is 4.2%. Most people would already agree that Bud Light and Coors Light are basically water so I can’t even imagine what drinking a 2.4% light beer would be like.
Anheuser-Busch has rolled this beer flavored carbonated water out to 15 markets and they are looking to expand to 10 more later this fall. So far testing is taking place in markets like Green Bay, Wis., Tampa and Orlando, Fla., San Diego, Dallas and Arizona. Additional areas to be tested include parts of Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas and Ohio.
If anyone comes across this stuff in their local market and wants to take the time to write a review for us I’ll be happy to post it as our “Friday Beer Review” for that week.

Well Bud Select 55 has shown up in Tucson AZ and has taken the City by Storm - Yea Right! I bought a six pack and tried it. Bud calls it a “Premium Light Beer” and prices it right up there with their Bud flagship. In a taste test between Miller 64 and Bud Select 55 one would have a hard time deciding which was worse. I’m saying a pox on both their houses and will stick with what I consider the best beer buy on the market. Good old Miller Highlife.
