Generally in the “Friday Beer Review” we review a bottled/canned beer that most of you kind find in your local super market. This week we’re going to break tradition and review a beer that can only be found on tap and generally in the Pacific Northwest. The reason we are breaking tradition is because I recently became the proud owner of a kegerator which means I have a shit ton of this particular beer on hand.
Manny’s Pale Ale pours cloudy with a rusty straw color and about an inch of off-white head. The head dissipates fairly quickly but you will get nice lacing all the way down the pint glass as you’re emptying it. Manny’s has a great hoppy, floral smell with hints of citrus mixed in. You’ll also pick up hints of malt and honey. The first sip reveals all of the flavors that you pick up in the aroma of the beer. You get a nice hoppy bite at the beginning that mellows out into a nice light taste in the middle and then you get another slight kick of hops as it goes down. The Georgetown Brewing Company describes Manny’s with the following:
Darn tasty beer.
Frankly, I can’t argue. I’ve made it known in several of these beer reviews that IPAs are my favorite brews but Manny’s is definitely in the top five. I think it’s the fact that it’s got just a little more hops flavor than your standard pale ale that makes me like it so much. Don’t let that hop flavor scare you away though. My fiancee that generally doesn’t like IPAs is a huge fan of Manny’s. Why do you think it was the first keg in the kegerator? When I’m out on the town and I’m not going for sheer quantity Manny’s is the beer I go with. It’s got an awesome microbrew flavor but with only 5.5% ABV so it won’t knock you on your ass quite as quickly as those 6.5%-plus microbrews. So if you end up in a bar with Manny’s on tap give it a try, I’m willing to bet you won’t be disappointed.

I was just joking about the douchiness of Manny’s Ale the other day Mitch.
