Smash It Up Is Back!

by J Diggles on October 1, 2009

Shortly after graduating from college I moved with a bunch of buddies into a huge 6-bedroom house.  The house came completely empty except for a gigantic desk in my room on the second floor.  Not just a table top, but one of those desks that really tried to do too much.  CD/DVD cubby, monitor shelf, built in bookcase, etc.  It was a monstrosity.

So, a few of us got together to think about the best way to handle this unwanted piece of furniture.  Clearly, the best thing to do was to smash it into little pieces with a aluminum baseball bat and chuck it out the window (no, the ladies that lived there were not amused).  I mean, what other option did we have?

And let me tell you, it was not only a complete success, but the beginning of a new guys night tradition that came to be known as “smash it up”.  Of course, the pieces of the desk stayed below my window in our driveway until we moved out 2 years later, but that was to be expected.

I wish these fella’s could have enjoyed the same success.

we also had a coffee table that was a gigantic ceramic cougar with a pane of glass on top of it. that got smashed.

the best was when a table was turned over during smash it up and a computer monitor was impaled on one of the legs.
