There is nothing in American politics quite as helpful as pandering to the wannabe politically savvy youth these days. Ever since Bill Clinton played the saxophone on MTV in the early 90’s, politics has been a whirlwind of Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert late-night appearances. On Monday night Hillary continued this trend, dawning her lovely fake smile and laughing as excessively awkward and out of turn as usual on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I guess her “satellite-delay misunderstandings” made her look more personable and genuine, because she followed it up on Tuesday by giving Barack Obama a severe ass-kicking - winning the Ohio and Texas primaries. Many thought she would lose both, most thought she would lose Texas. Today was supposed to be the day she conceded, but late night television has done it again and given her the bump she needed to carry-on.

With the writers strike marching along, three of my favorite shows still remain writerless with nothing to talk about. That would be: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Jon Stewart has taken to the tactic of more political gossip, Stephen Colbert is interviewing 2 guests instead of 1, and Conan has been scene spinning his wedding ring for minutes on end and doing his show from the back row or on light fixtures in order to waste time. While these have all still been moderately amusing, it is just not the same without the writers.

Fortunately for us dedicated late night watchers, the three hosts have sensed their comedy dissipation and moved to do something about it. The three have been arguing back and forth about who created Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. And after weeks of feuding, it all culminated last night with a Conan vs. Colbert vs. Stewart Battle Royale….

The iPhone officially releases at 6pm tonight across the country. Does that seem like a random time to anyone else? Anyway, I know we are all excited. I am personally still debating whether or not to get one first thing. I have to think that at some point in the next six months the price will be lowered as a package with a 2-year plan. But for now it is either $499 or $599, no discounts. I mean, what the F? That is expensive. Nevertheless, I suspect that if I walk past an Apple or AT&T store, irrational exuberance will kick in - so hopefully they will be sold out. I already have 2 ipods, a digital camera, and an internet phone…
