Boggs Tally Over - Street Cred Intact - Possibly Increased

July 10th, 2007by Mitch Martin · No Comments

Beer MugWe here at Tasty Booze along with a lot of our readers consider ourselves to be good drinkers. Back in May Lexington came across a story on the internet about some cat over in England who has been keeping a diary of every he beer he has drank since 1988. We all thought this was a little slice of genius and after a little bit of thought we had an idea. Why don’t we keep track of our beers for the month of June? So on June 1st we started the Official Beer Tally / Contest.

As you can see from the final results posted over in the sidebar everyone put up some pretty respectable numbers. Hank had the privilege of going on a week long Caribbean cruise right at the end of the month and managed to maintain a 12 beer a day average over about 8 days. Any man who is still expected to show up to work and wants to keep his job would be hard pressed to match that kind of productivity. One thing to keep in mind is that most of us don’t drink during the week. For instance I posted a 116 and I only drank on one week night the whole month. So instead of a 3.86 beer average over 30 days I am really sitting pretty with a 10.54 beer average over 11 days. To be honest I thought my average would be a little higher.

Based on the numbers (hard evidence) we backed up our big talk, hence street cred increased, and proved that we are all quickly moving into fledgling alcoholic status.

Tasty Booze Official Beer Tally/Contest - Month of June

May 31st, 2007by Mitch Martin · 5 Comments

In Lexington’s Diary of a Beer Drinker post earlier this month he made the suggestion that we should track the number of boggs we crush for the month of June. I think we are going to take him up on that offer. I am going to create a new section in the sidebar where we will update our running totals for the month a couple of times a week. Kind of like the crab totals on Deadliest Catch.

I don’t want to limit this month long contest of fun to only the five of us that write here on Tasty Booze. If you are a loyal reader and would like to have your tally included send an email to tastybooze [at] gmail [dot] com with the following information.

1. Your name, location and screen name if don’t want your real name posted.
2. A brief statement about yourself that will be posted on Tasty Booze.
3. Your estimate of the number of beers you will crush in June.

Basic Rules:
1. This is based on the honor system. Don’t be a jackass.
2. Any and all beers count. This isn’t limited to just boggs.
3. Totals will be based on 12 oz beers. If you drink a 22 oz mug round up and count that as       two. If you drink a 16 oz pint count that as 1.3.

Since this post is going up only one day before the tally begins I will leave registration for non Tasty Boozers open until 6/5/07.

WSU LogoOn Friday the man who designed the greatest University logo of all time passed away in Spokane, WA. Randall Johnson designed the now famous Washington State University logo in 1937 while he was a Junior at the University. In 1959 Johnson displayed his high level of honor by selling the copyright for the logo to the University for a framed 1 dollar bill.

The Most Honorable Cop in the Union

February 2nd, 2007by Mike Honcho · No Comments

Honor is a big thing to us tasty boozers. This guy deserves a shout-out, and possible the Rock of the Week award.

KEWASKUM, Wis. — It’s not usually news when a police officer writes a ticket — unless it’s the chief and he gives the ticket to himself.

Village of Kewaskum Police Chief Richard Knoebel said he was driving to work when he became distracted by a truck stopping on one side of the street. He said he didn’t see a school bus with its lights flashing and a stop sign out on the other side of the four-lane road.

The chief said he didn’t know he had passed the stopped bus until it was too late. When he realized what he had done, he issued himself a $235 ticket.

“When we get someone for not stopping for a flashing school bus we give them a citation. So I shouldn’t be any different so I did,” Knoebel said.

Not only did the chief have to pay a hefty fine, he gave himself a four-point penalty on his license.
