Friday Beer Review - Budweiser American Ale

I’m sure it takes a company like Anheiser-Busch months if not years to perfect a new brew for market. At the same time I’m sure it takes a company like InBev months if not years to put together a deal to buy the largest American owned brewery. It just seemed a little too perfect that a month after news broke that Anheiser-Bush had been bought by Belgium based InBev Anheiser turned around and dropped Budweiser American Ale on the market.

American Ale is Budweiser’s shot at a mass produced microbrew. It’s a top fermented ale that is dry hopped with Casade hops.

The beer itself isn’t bad but it’s definitely nothing special. American Ale has a nice amber color with hints of red and pours with a nice head. The head dissipates fairly quickly with little to no lacing. Despite it’s microbrew looks once American Ale hits your mouth it definitely feels like a Budweiser. American Ale lacks the full body mouth feel that brews like Alaskan Amber or even a Redhook Blonde have. Basically it’s a amber colored Budweiser that has a malty taste and a slightly bitter aftertaste.

If you are looking to pick up a six pack of something different it’s not a bad choice but if you are bellied up to the bar and you’re looking for a pint I would go with a legit microbrew.

Beer Phone Makes For The Ultimate Drunk Dial

October 13th, 2008by Mitch Martin · 2 Comments

If you are one of those people that just can’t give up your land line then you might as well attach it to a bottle of Budweiser.

Think of how much fun it will be to explain to that special someone’s answering machine that you are actually making your 2:47 a.m. drunk dial from a phone shaped like a bottle of the exact same piss you were drinking earlier.

At only $11.99 plus $5 shipping it is definitely worth picking up.

John Daly Tees Off Using A Tall Boy

July 2nd, 2008by Baba Ganoush · 1 Comment

Let me set the stage here: Professional Golfer/Drinker John Daly playing in a Pro-AM tournament in Michigan. Pro-AM Partner: Detroit’s own Kid Rock (wearing appropriate golf attire of overalls). Shot: Golf ball teed up on a 24 oz. can of Budweiser. Result: AWESOME! Even more impressive, Daly’s ability to leave the can after the tee shot, but Kid Rock is there to pick up scraps.
