Lil Wayne feat. T-Pain, “Smurfs Got Money”

June 24th, 2008by Baba Ganoush · 11 Comments

Last year Soulja Boy managed to take his one-hit wonder “Crank That” to epic heights thanks in part to a YouTube video with Barney.

But this year belongs to Lil Wayne. His album, Tha Carter III (read the TastyBooze review), sold more than 1 million copies in the first week and his next single featuring T-Pain, “Got Money,” is already getting tons of radio air play.

With no official video out yet, and considering our love of the Smurfs and Lil Wayne’s short stature, we thought this was a perfect pairing. TastyBooze now presents Papa Wayne featuring Smurf-Pain in “Got Money”:

Buy You A Drank, The Anti-Energy Drink

June 9th, 2008by Baba Ganoush · 2 Comments

If you’re going to name your beverage “Drank,” you better have some sort of affiliation already worked out with T-Pain. “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” has to be your theme song, it should play on your web site and be involved in every part of your marketing.

Unfortunately the people behind Drank seem to have drank too much, as I can’t seem to find a web site for their drink, and all the information about the drink comes from a post on the Village Voice about it and a questionable listing on Wikipedia called Purple Drank. Here’s what the apparent press release on the drink had to say:

From design to production, every aspect of this calming drink was inspired by today’s popular hip hop artists who embrace the much sought-after hip hop lifestyle that encourages people to capture a stress-free state of mind.

Dubbed as the “anti-energy” drink with a tap line of “Slow Your Roll,” Drank wants to be known as the “extreme relaxation beverage” - essentially it’s grape soda with some special ingredients in it. Drank is already popular in the South, and should be more widely distributed in the near future.

Here’s my issue… Drank vs. Weed? The “much sought-after hip hop lifestyle” also includes some level of street cred, which probably goes out the window when you start mentioning that you drink Drank to relax instead of lighting up. Have you seen T-Pain? He looks high all the time. Are you really expecting rappers to “pop bottles” of Drank in their music videos?

Maybe we can get some suggestions on what to mix Drank with on the alcohol side? I’m thinking maybe rum or whiskey? And if someone from Drank reads this, can you hook us up with some Drank to review?
